Prison Island - Why are there chapters without sex?

I write smut, and it's what motivates me, so I realized that some readers might end up disappointed that there are chapters without sex. While I like reading stories with a lot of sex, I want the sex to have sense. The sexless chapters are the links that connect all the smutty scenes so that they make sense in a way that I find it logical.
