The Human Bearer Saga Is Coming to an End...
This is a story I started back in 2014, wrote around 40k words to it and then forgot about it. At this point, I don't even recall exactly what prompted me to write it. Maybe I was reading some strange Mpreg stories, or something like that. I also have a vague memory of seeing a beautiful digital painting featuring a handsome male lamia, and maybe that's what made the idea pop in my head.
I had no idea at the time what I wanted to do with it. I had no plans to put it out in the world for others to read. But when I managed to go back to writing many years after, I found this story on my hard drive. And I thought: oh, this is pretty hot.
So I started publishing it, not very often at first, and people liked it. Which surprised me, because they liked it more than I thought it was possible since, in my head, it seemed to be... so niche.
Since I also started my SubscribeStar and began gaining readers also willing to support me with donations, I realized in time that I had to get a bit more serious about my writing and publishing schedule. I finished Prison Island and its sequel first, I think - I hope my memory doesn't play tricks on me.
And then I delved for real in writing The Human Bearer. And it started getting bigger. Bigger and bigger. It turned into a space saga, it earned itself a cast of characters that I had to create profiles for - it didn't happen before for me - and it became so much more. Hey, readers even started a Discord to talk about it!
I passed the 100-chapter mark published on free to read platforms sometime this year. That's an accomplishment on its own, me likes to think.
But that's about half of it. I'm currently at chapter 224 on my SubscribeStar and I am close to the finish, finally. In the end, the whole saga will have 225 chapters and an epilogue. I might write a prologue, too.
I might publish the saga formatted nicely in separate volumes.
How many words is it? I have no clue. I think more than 700k. It's crazy. I've been at it for about 4 years, without counting the chapters written in 2014.
With such a huge cast, I realized that other characters will want their stories told. That's why Tasha's story is still in the making. It's at a modest 27-chapter mark, but I didn't mean it to be as long as Riordan's saga. This one is also available on my SubscribeStar.
With The Human Bearer coming to a close, I'm thinking of publishing the story more often on the other platforms so that the readers who are still sticking up with it won't end up having grandchildren waiting for the grand finale.
And it is a grand finale, I like to think. It has everything and everyone. Yeah, even Marn (for those who still miss him).
For everyone reading this blog post, thank you guys. By commenting, leaving kudos, supporting me in whatever way you could, you kept me going.
And even after it, there might be still be other stories set in the same universe.
225 chapters... I would've laughed in anyone's face if they told me this thing 4 years ago.
But it's almost done. And I feel damn proud about it.
